Proper Diet for Nephrotic Syndrome in Children

Proper Diet for Nephrotic Syndrome in Children

Nephrotic syndrome is a condition where the filters of the kidneys are damaged, resulting in loss of protein in the urine. This disease can occur both in adults and children. In addition to accepting the conversational treatment, the patients should pay more attention to their diets in daily life.

For children, a low sodium diet and fluid restriction can help treat the symptoms associated with nephrotic syndrome. Here,we will give you some guidelines:
1. Limit grains and foods made from them. Anything containing gluten should be minimized, as a lot of people have allergy or sensitivity to it without realizing it.
2. No vegetable oils, margarines or spreads. These contain trans-fats, which cause inflammation. Butter, extra virgin olive oil and extra virgin coconut oil are your best options. All animal fats are good providing they have not been overheated to the extent that they become trans-fats.
3. No soy foods. Soy beans are the most ′pharmed′ foods on the planet, which makes them very toxic. Small amount of organic soy sauce is acceptable.
4. No table salt. Only use sea salt or Himalayan crystal salt.
5. No cold foods. Cold shocks the kidneys. All food/drinks should be consumed at no colder than room temperature.
6. No dairy, with the exception of unsweetened yoghourt and butter.
