Foods Renal Failure Patients Should not Eat


High-phosphorus Food:
Patients with Kidney Failure are not allowed to eat high-phosphorus food. Excess intake of phosphorus will result in hyperphosphatemia, which will do harm to repairing damaged kidneys and their whole body. Kelp, nori, animal offal, honey and yolk rich in phosphorus are not allowed to eat.

High-fat Food:
Excessive intake of fat may lead to hyperliperia, which is not benefical to patients’ recover. Damaged kidneys will deteriorate further. Patients are not allowed to cook with animal oil. Greasy food (hamburger, beefsteak, fried drumstick and chicken wings) is also not advocated to them. Plant oil, especially maize oil is recommended to be used to cook.

High-potassium Food:
Patients with Kidney Failure had better not eat food rich in potassium, such as banana, lily, Hami melon, orange, tremella, raisin and potato. The inability of patients’ kidneys to discharge extra potassium may cause hyperkalemia, which may lead to abnormal heart rhythm and even death. Even when their disease condition can be controlled well, they are allowed to be supplied proper quantity of potassium. In this condition, patients must follow their doctor’s advice strictly.

High-salt Food:
Large intake of salt will cause water and sodium retention in blood for kidneys’ inability to discharge sodium, which may damage patients’ kidneys further. And this condition will give rise to high blood pressure, which is harmful to damaged kidneys. Patients should eat low-food food, such as seafood. When they cook, they are allowed to take a small spoon of salt in food. Consult your doctor that whether the food you eat regularly are allowed to eat.

High-protein Food:
High-protein food is not allowed to eat for them, such as beans, soymilk, melon seeds, peanut and walnut. High-quality, low protein food contributes to supplying needed protein for body and repairing damaged kidneys. Excessive intake of protein will damage glomerulis, and renal tubules. All of these will aggravate kidney fibrosis.
