Diet for High Creatinine Level-Protein

Generally speaking, people with high creatinine level are usually recommended a low-protein diet. Here we will help you know more about the diet for people with high creatinine level, and particular in protein.

There is no one particular kidney diet for patients with elevated creatinine. Individual dietary recommendations are based upon the patient's lab results, blood pressure, symptoms and other metrics. Making dietary changes has no preventative value if the change is not merited. Since patients with moderate kidney disease often have to heed to a restricted diet eventually, there is no sense in imposing restrictions that serve no purpose.

Advice regarding protein consumption may appear to be contradictory. The National Kidney Foundation recommends that patients with diabetic kidney disease, who are not on dialysis, limit protein intakes to the recommended daily intake of 0.8 g of protein per kg body weight. A slightly lower protein intake is recommended for non-diabetic kidney patients. These low-protein recommendations do not apply to patients who are on dialysis. Patients on dialysis need all the calories they can get. Moreover, they need additional protein to compensate for the amino acids that are dialyzed away. Always ask your nephrologist before changing your protein intake. Low-protein diets are not for everyone, and in many instances, they can be dangerous.

There is no a certain food people with kidney disease should avoid, which depends on patients’ specific condition. If you want to know more about high creatinine diet, you are welcomed to send us an email to kidney-support@hotmail.com.
